About SPWA
Single Parent Wellbeing Advocacy (SPWA) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Nigeria dedicated to improving the lives and overall wellbeing of single parentss, both male and female, across the country. Founded on the principles of compassion, equity, and empowerment, SPWA recognizes the unique challenges faced by single parentss and strives to create a supportive and inclusive environment where they can thrive.
We at SPWA believe that raising balanced children require both parents to be actively involved in their upbringing. It’s a divine arrangement that children are to be nurtured and trained under the umbrella of father and mother to allow them grow into better adulthood.
However, we understand that circumstances beyond parties’ control may result in one of the parents been absent in the children’s life such as divorce, death, abandonment and separation. Indeed, we understand the need for family to stay together, we also understand that some families are so toxic, too dangerous and so inimical to the welfare of the children that it will be better off for the children if the problem is irredeemable.
Some children have endured toxic relationship between their parents that it hasadversely affected their adulthood. This toxicity has continued till adulthood. At SPWA, we have recognized this and advocated that rather than staying in the dangerous and toxic family situation where one of the parents is being abuse emotionally, physically, financially, treated very badly, parent should separate and raise their children.
We understand that parent may have fallen out of love for each other, but they should love and coparent. The fact that the parents are not together should not stop them from raising well balanced children and well adjusted children. That’s is mission, our mandate to raise a well balanced children in a single parents home that has a well balanced children attitude, well adjusted, no negativity, no handspun
